Children & Youth Worker

Are you what we are looking for?
  • Do you have a heart and passion to bring the gospel to young people?

  • Are you a motivated self-starter and encourager with a flair for creative thinking to inspire, mentor and support our young people in their exploration of the Christian faith?

  • Are you energetic, prepared to get stuck in with a variety of activities and games that bring our youth group together as a unit?

If you have answered ‘yes’ to these questions, then we would love to hear from you.

Some Background....
  • Over the last few years, Walton-on-Thames Methodist Church has witnessed a resurgence in the numbers of young people regularly attending our morning worship. In response to this, monthly activity sessions have been organised to complement our Sunday morning Sunday School lessons. These have offered our young people a chance to socialise, develop bonds and thrive in a Christian environment. For our younger children, we have developed a successful Messy Church programme.

  • We are now looking for someone to take this to the next stage, to be on the front-line of delivering excellent youth work for our young people.

What's Involved?
  • You will plan and facilitate regular youth group sessions, leading our enthusiastic volunteers.

  • You will help with Sunday School and Messy Church.

  • You will coordinate trips offsite based on the desires of the young people.

  • You will drive new projects focussed on the youth at Walton-on-Thames Methodist Church, projects which will be inspired by your work with our young people.

  • You will help to create a bridge between our young people and the rest of the Church by planning occasional activities that will bring the whole Church together.

  • You will provide the pastoral care for our current young people as well as leading the growth of our youth group.

  • You will look for ways to draw other young people into the Youth Group.

What do you need to be a successful candidate?
  • Be a practicing Christian.

  • Have experience working with children and young people.

  • Either have, or be working towards, an appropriate professional youth worker qualification endorsed by the National Youth Workers Association.
